Not a lot of guys were able to make it out this week due to weather and some are doing some maintenance before the season gets in full swing. The guys fishing in the Raritan Bay have lucked out with Striper fishing really picking up and when the weather has cooperated fishing has been great.
I spoke with Captain Derek of Fisher Price IV who said that he was able to start his season last Saturday and he had a slower start with 4 keepers to 34″ and a dozen or so shorts. On Wednesday he said things started heating up really heating and as soon as the boat stopped and the lures hit the bottom it was nonstop all day with 75 fish up to 27lbs. Captain Derek will be out next week as long as weather permits and still has some charter dates and open boats available. You can visit bndcharterfishing.com or call Derek at 732-861-3394
Captain Kris Black of Fish Stix is currently fishing out of Raritan to capitalize on the bass bite but will be back in early June and his normal spot in Shark River and also having a lot of success when they can get out. The pictures speak for themselves. If you want to get out on the Fish Stix you can call or text Kris at 732-312-6878
On Wednesday Captain Phil Leo of Pura Vida Sportfishing was able to sneak out for his first day of blackfishing. They got to put the new double anchoring system through its paces and when they settled into the spot it was drop and reel fishing. They easily had their boat limit and released a few fish as well with 3 of those fishing breaking the double digit mark as well as a 17 and 15lber! Weather has been tough lately but the Pura Vida will be fishing everyday the weather allows and you can visit Pvfishingcharter.com to see a full schedule of available dates but they are booking up fast.
